Branching Out with Shading

The assigment was to design a simple landscape that featured a tree with personality. The requirement was to show the branches textures by shading in order to make the tree look three dimensional.  Im not sure if this counts as a lanscape but Im happy with the overall result.

  1. I like this. It kinda looks like the tree has an eye and has it's mouth open. Actually, it looks like it is looking at the protruding object on the next tree branch.

  2. I like your drawing, but only seem to see 3 levels of shading. Maybe it's because it's scanned.

  3. I really like how this piece takes up the entire page and I envision the shading on the bottom front as a "melted" face hidden in the tree watching everything.

  4. It's so awesome. I think it gives off a "mysterious" vibe. I love the shading and texture you gave to certain limbs. I could actually see it in a museum!

  5. I really like the contour lines you created in the branches on the back side of the tree. I think if you bring more of those lines into the foreground of the tree it would create more of a shaded effect.

    Nice work.
